Bit-budget, maybe 😉 … though if you can make it fit into 192k instead of 256 you don’t need as many ROM chips…

I’ve since been corrected that the original Mario Bros code fit into something like 40 (48?) kilobytes. Holy heck.
(and presumably it was cheaper to use 5 x 8kb or 3 x 16kb chips than a single 64kb one, for example…)
Still crazy how so much life was crammed into such tiny amounts of memory?!
