The head butting cave boy mascot for NEC’s Turbo Grafx / PC Engine.
Bonk started out as just a comic character in the company magazine. People mistook him for development drawings & were waiting for the game before it even went into development!
He stared in 5 games, the first 3 being released on NEC’s machine. He also did well on other machines, winning lot of awards & even had a descendant Zonk that got his own series of spin offs.
In the Japanese version he turned into a woman at one point (or wore drag). This along with a karaoke session!? was removed from the version released to the rest of the world.
